Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has paid a one-day working visit to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, with the aim of interacting with the teaching and non-teaching staff as well as an on the-spot-assessment of the conditions of the university.
Governor Soludo highlighted initiatives by his administration, aimed at equipping the school, including, providing students with better access to information and stimulating their interest in learning”.
The Governor emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnership between the school and his administration that will bridge the skills gap between classroom learning and job requirements”.
He also stressed the need to streamline education services and make them more responsive to the needs of students. He called for better communication and coordination between the school and the state government”.
Governor Soludo recalled his days as a lecturer and commended the Vice Chancellor and his team for their efforts, which has made the school the second best state-owned institution in the country”.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Greg Nwakoby enumerated some achievements recorded during his tenure. He commended the Governor and said it was the first time a sitting Governor was visiting the school for an assessment tour.
Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Chief Protocol officer, Hon Chinedu Nwoye, Transition Committee Chairman for Anambra East, Dr. Anselm Onuorah, among others, were present at the occasion which also featured inspection of some of the school facilities
