For the execution of the strategy in Nnewi, the governor of Anambra state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has mentioned a round table conversation with partners/stakeholders of the town.
Prof. Chukwuma Soludo made the request on Sunday when he commissioned Okpuno Uruagu Primary Health Centre Nnewi renovated By Oliver Nwagbala and inspection of the palace of Okpuno Uruagu Nnewi built by Chief Cletus Ibeto.
According to the Governor, for Nnewi to live up to its name as the Japan of Africa, there is a need for Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP), mentioning his interest in the development of Nnewi.
Nnewi, which the governor described as the largest city in Anambra South Senatorial Zone, needs urgent attention, especially in the area of infrastructure, urging the stakeholders of the town to come together.
The Governor also revealed that the state government has already designed a master plan for Nnewi which will be made public, calling on the Chief Executive Officer of Ibeto Group, Chief Cletus Ibeto conduct a meeting of stakeholders in the town.
Chief Cletus Ibeto, the Business Leader in Nnewi as the Governor addressed him, and urged him to organize a group of 20-25 Nnewi stakeholders, to discuss the implementation of Anambra State, assuring that he will attend the meeting whenever it is fixed.
The Governor revealed that the idea of the stakeholders’ meeting is to discuss how resources can be pulled together to develop the town, stating that now is the time for Governance not for politics.
He said that apart from the construction of Okpunoeze-Nnewi Hotel Road, Isaho-Teaching Hospital Road, and Bank Road which are all ongoing, he wants to bring in more projects in Nnewi, hence the need for the stakeholders meeting.
He also revealed that he has a special interest in Nnewi especially as it regards the road infrastructure and the transformation of the Nkwo Nnewi triangle, noting that this transformation can take place now that he is the Governor.
