Sharing is caring

To ensure a secure and peaceful celebration during and after the festive period, joint security forces, including the Military, Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have been strategically deployed across all 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State. This operation is further strengthened by collaboration with local vigilante groups.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, ASP Henry Okoye, assured residents and holiday returnees of their safety throughout the season. He emphasized that the combined efforts of the police and other security agencies are focused on maintaining public safety through “Christmas and New Year operations.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Hamzat Abdulkardir, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, reiterated the commitment of security agencies to uphold peace and order throughout the festive season and beyond.

“Joint teams, comprising Police, Military, DSS, NSCDC, and local vigilantes, have been mobilized across the state’s senatorial districts. Their activities include confidence-building patrols, show-of-force operations, intelligence-led missions, and enhanced night patrols to deter criminal elements,” Okoye explained.

Additionally, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Police Traffic Wardens have been deployed to key areas to ensure smooth traffic flow during the holiday rush.

Security personnel have been instructed to conduct their duties professionally, upholding human rights and maintaining decorum during operations. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the security teams to foster a safe and joyous festive period.
