…Call For Release Of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has voiced deep concerns over the ongoing sit-at-home orders that have repeatedly paralyzed economic activities in the Southeast.

Recently, several areas across the region experienced a partial economic shutdown due to a sit-at-home directive issued by unidentified individuals. Both the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, which initially introduced the orders following the detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, have since distanced themselves from the latest round of disruptions.

In a statement released, COSEYL President General, Goodluck Ibem, condemned the harmful impact of these orders on the region’s economy. “We cannot continue like this as a people. This madness must stop,” Ibem said, expressing frustration over the situation.

According to Ibem, the orders are often circulated by anonymous individuals via voice messages and videos, causing confusion and unrest in the region.

COSEYL urged President Bola Tinubu to consider releasing Nnamdi Kanu from custody as a step towards resolving the ongoing disruptions. “We appeal to President Tinubu to release Kanu, as this could help end the exploitation of his detention by those seeking to inflict pain, hardship, and economic stagnation on the Southeast,” the statement concluded.
