The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has fulfilled his promise by redeeming the N100m bounty placed on the head of notorious cult leader, Gift Okpara, aka 2Baba.
Okpara was responsible for the murder of Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent Bako Angbashin, in the Oduemude area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, confirmed this during a parade held in honor of the slain DPO at the state police headquarters.
Disu expressed his appreciation to the Governor for keeping his word and redeeming the pledge to those who provided credible information leading to Okpara’s neutralization and recovery of his corpse.
Okpara was killed during a police raid on his hideout in the Idu-Ekpeye community in Ahoada, and his body was later recovered in the Ibrass forest.
The late DPO, Angbashin, was instrumental in arresting notorious criminal, Boboski, and restoring order to Bori and its environs by eliminating cultism.
Angbashin’s gallantry and operational expertise led to his transfer to the Ahoada Division, where he was tasked with effecting the arrest of Okpara. Although he was murdered and dismembered, his remains have now been recovered and returned to his family.
The deceased’s elder brother, Dogo, expressed happiness that his brother served the nation meritoriously as a police officer and bequeathed a legacy of gallantry in the state police command and the force in general.
