…Appeals To Rivers People To Continue Supporting The Government To Deliver On the Mandate Of The PDP.

In a media chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Hon. Nwafor Richard Nwali, while reacting to the statement credited to His Excellency Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (immediate past governor of Rivers State and Minister of FCT), called on Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara not to be distracted from his constitutional duty but remain committed to the development of the state.

“The governor should be concerned about the wellbeing of the people rather than taking much time to respond to comedians dancing on television and other social media platforms for their parochial interest that has rendered the majority of the people incapacitated in the midst of plenty,” he said.

The media spokesperson described as unfortunate how the former Governor (Wike) continues to destroy the sanctity of democracy with anti-party activities coupled with unguided utterances in all his media briefings.

“The Minister should channel the energies used to attack Governor Fubara to empower his teeming supporters who have lost both the state Assembly and chairmanship positions in the state,” he added. “I expected Wike to use the occasion of the purported party congress to announce massive empowerment programs to better the lots of those who defected from our formidable party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressive’s Congress, who were seen casting their votes in the said congress, despite a subsisting court order barring them from such exercise.”

His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara has prioritized empowerment programs, security of lives, smart school initiatives, peace, and stability of the economic giant stride of the oil-rich region since his assumption of office as governor. “No amount of intimidation and media distraction will derail the prospects/fortunes of the state development.”

The statement further alleged that Wike has threatened to throw the states under the control of the PDP into political crisis and protracted litigation for their support for His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara. “We don’t doubt whether he will do it or not, but we want to urge Wike to steer clear of the Southeast, as the governor will continue to enjoy massive support from the zone, and our people will vote massively for his reelection bid due to his excellent performance in his first year in office, which has brought unprecedented development in all sectors of the state economy, by extension, appointment of non-indigenes from Igbo land into notable offices, when Wike perceived Ndi Igbo as those against the development of the state.”

“Governor Siminalayi deserves accolades for standing tall in defense of our democracy from various attacks from supporters of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), when the governor has continued to tolerate the excesses of those trying hard to destabilize the state for selfish reasons,” Hon. Nwafor asserted.

He enjoined Rivers People to support the government in fighting crimes and criminality to a standstill, in a bid to shame those planning to cause chaos and discredit the government of the day. “Security of lives and property of Rivers People should not be toyed with; it needs the support of citizens to achieve, devoid of political affiliation.”

“The reelection bid of the governor is sacrosanct; no man can stop the simplified movement,” the statement concluded.
