A Nigerian promise Nwosu who is attempting to set a world record has been received by the Rivers State governor after embarking on a five day walk from Lagos state in south western Nigeria
He arrived Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital to the admiration of residents of the state capital who trooped out to receive the twenty eight year old
Promise, who is from Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State but better known as “Wene Port Harcourt” on social media, is hoping to create a Guinness World Record for the longest distance covered on foot.
He set out from the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State on October 17 and arrived at his destination, the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
The distance is estimated to be 606km.
While in Port Harcourt, the potential World Record breaker got cheers from residents as he walked along the streets.
He was accompanied by the cheering crowd as he arrived at the Government House gate where he was received by officials of the Rivers State Government led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Governor Fubara commended the courage of the 28-year-old and urged other youths to dispense their energies in meaningful ventures and promised to do “something special” for him on Monday.
With the marathon now completed, the Guinness World Records is expected to preview the exercise and give a verdict sooner or later.

There have been attempts at setting a record for the longest walk; Georges Hol Georges Holtyzer of Belgium walked 418.49 miles in 6 days 10 hrs and 58 minutes. He stopped only for a maximum of two minutes every 4 hours to change his shoes and answer the call of nature.
The greatest distance walked in 24 hours is 228.930km 142 miles 440 yd by Jesse Castenda (USA) at Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA on 18-19 Sep 1976.
