Anambra State Anti-Corruption Strategy supported by the Rule Of Law and Anti-Corruption, RoLAC programme, has held a review and revalidation of the programme.
The Anambra State Anti-Corruption Strategy aims at strengthening government Ministries, departments and agencies to eliminate corruption and increase efficiency.
The event had in attendance permanent secretaries and key heads of government parastatals and agencies to review the first phase of the state Anti-Corruption strategy while also having an overview of the draft for the 2024-2028 Anti-Corruption strategy.
Taking participants on the objectives of the event and also an overview of the strategy’s draft for 2024-2028, Dr. Ada Chidi-Igbokwe of ROLAC explained that the first phase, 2019-2023 was not for witch hunting of anybody but rather to ensure that government operations are strengthened for better service delivery without corrupt activities.
Dr. Chidi-Igbokwe also explained that making and strengthening relevant laws, implementing them and closing loopholes that allow corruption to thrive is the strategy’s aim.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Adebayo Ojeinka emphasized that the strategy is backed by law to achieve its objectives and added that proper funding will help it enlighten people on how to access government services without corrupt means.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Dr Martin Agbili noted that the strategy also covers how to ensure zero tolerance for corruption even in local government areas.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo said the strategy is in line with the state government policies.
The event was also attended by the Managing Director, Anambra Broadcasting Services, ABS, Mr. Chris Molokwu.
