The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning with the reported passing of legendary singer and actress, Onyeka Onwenu, at the age of 72.
According to eyewitnesses, Onwenu died on Tuesday night, July 30, 2024, after slumping at the birthday party of Mrs. Stella Okoli in Lagos.
Onwenu had reportedly performed at the birthday party earlier in the evening, entertaining guests with her iconic songs. However, shortly after her performance, she suddenly slumped and was rushed to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, where she was pronounced dead.
Onyeka Onwenu will be deeply missed by her fans and the entertainment industry as a whole. She was a talented singer, actress, journalist, and politician, who had made significant contributions to the Nigerian music and film industries.
