Reinstated Edo Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, Resumes Office

Sharing is caring

Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has officially returned to office and instructed his staff to do the same.

In a video broadcast on Monday, Shaibu announced his resumption, citing adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Shaibu’s return to office comes after a Federal High Court judgment reinstated him as the Deputy Governor of Edo State.

In his video address, he directed all staff who haven’t resumed work since his reinstatement to do so immediately or face consequences. He emphasized that his office was never vacant, as the court’s judgment validated his position.

Shaibu also warned banks against conducting transactions with his office without his explicit approval, citing illegality.

He stated that any transactions made without his authorization would be considered unlawful.

In addition to his official duties, Shaibu expressed sadness over the killing of a police officer attached to the Edo APC governorship candidate, which occurred upon his return to the state. He noted that suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Furthermore, Shaibu revealed that he has requested the state governor’s approval to reinstate his aides but is still awaiting a response.

This move is seen as an attempt to restore his office to full capacity and functionality.

Shaibu’s return to office is expected to bring stability to the state government and resolve the leadership crisis that ensued following his initial removal. However, the situation remains fluid, and it’s unclear how the state governor and other stakeholders will respond to Shaibu’s reinstatement.
