Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, on Sunday, 29th June, 2025 received a Professional Award of Excellence from Rotary International Club of Onitsha Metropolis, for her outstanding leadership and contributions to the education sector.
Presenting the award during the club’s official handover ceremony at 1890 Residence, Onitsha, outgoing president of the club, Rtn Oby Arinze, said the honour was part of efforts to recognise individuals, who have made significant societal contributions.
While noting that Rotary was committed to acknowledging excellence across various sectors, she explained that Dr. Awuzie’s award was based on her superlative performance within 100 days in office as rector.
She praised the rector for her dedication, hardwork, achievements and positive impact in the polytechnic; adding that she was impressed with Awuzie’s leadership capacity.
Speaking, the rector expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to do more. She then called on women to always manifest their impact wherever they find themselves.
The event witnessed presentation of award to other distinguished individuals, as well as the inauguration of Dr. Onochie Ntomchukwu as the new president of Rotary International Club, Onitsha Metropolis.
