Prof Soludo Says His Administration Will Continue To Prioritize Health As COOUTH Holds 2024 End Of Year Appreciation, Award Ceremony

Governor Chukwuma Soludo says his administration will continue to place high premium on the health sector as Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka held its 2024 end of year appreciation day and award ceremony.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Governor Soludo noted that the health sector is critical to the development of the state, adding that his government has done a lot to improve the hospital, including the ongoing construction of a trauma centre in the hospital which his administration has mapped out over N200 million to equip it.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Joe Akabuike noted that the event was organized to compensate some staff members who have distinguished themselves in their various departments and philanthropists who are helping the hospital to thrive in so many ways, commending Governor Soludo for his numerous interventions in the hospital.

A business mogul and philanthropist, Chief Azubuike Ekweozor who was given an award at the event for his benevolence and for always offsetting the medical bills of indigent patients in the hospital, also mapped out five million naira to clear the bills of indigent patients.

For the pioneer Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Lawrence Ikeakor who was given a meritorious service award, it meant a lot to him as it is the first of its kind after seven years he exited the seat, while the Anambra State Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe called on the hospital to sustain the momentum in making positive impacts.

The celebration which was used to honour some staff members of the hospital who distinguished themselves in their various departments was equally used to present the 2024 scorecard of the hospital to the public, detailing the hospital’s achievements in the year.
