During the Democracy Day celebration at the National Assembly, Prof. Orogbu courageously addressed the pressing issues facing the nation, showcasing her relentless advocacy for the people. Yet, despite her commendable efforts, certain individuals have resorted to spreading baseless and absurd rumors. These claims, suggesting that legislators, including Prof. Orogbu, received monetary benefits to support the President’s State of Emergency declaration on Rivers State, are not only false but also a blatant attempt to tarnish her reputation.
It is essential to set the record straight: Prof. Orogbu had pre-scheduled critical engagements with her constituents on March 19 and 20, 2025, well before the announcement of the state of emergency. Any insinuation that her absence from the sitting was intentional is both mischievous and misleading. Furthermore, it must be emphasized that the House’s decision to approve the suspension of a democratically elected Governor would have proceeded regardless of her presence.
Let us not allow political mischief-makers to distract us from the truth. Prof. Orogbu remains steadfast in her mission to serve the nation with integrity and dedication. Nigerians deserve leaders who prioritize their welfare over political gamesmanship, and Prof. Orogbu exemplifies this commitment.
