The Rivers State Police Command has denied reports that the Port Harcourt residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was attacked and set on fire by hoodlums.

On Sunday night, some online platforms reported that Wike’s house was under attack, with claims that unidentified individuals had set it ablaze.

However, in a statement released on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, dismissed the reports as false and misleading.

According to the police, there is no record of any attack on Wike’s home.

The reports circulating online were described as a deliberate attempt to spread fear and create unnecessary tension in the state.

The command assured residents that there was no unrest and that the situation across Rivers State remained calm.

The police also warned against the spread of false information, stating that those responsible for such misleading reports would be held accountable under the law.

The public was urged to disregard the claims and rely on verified sources for updates.

Authorities reassured residents of their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.

They encouraged people to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies to prevent the spread of misinformation and ensure public safety.
