The Nigeria Police Force has clarified that a recent operation at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) national secretariat in Abuja was aimed at apprehending a foreign national implicated in numerous criminal activities across Nigeria and other African countries.
According to Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the operation was not targeted at the NLC or its leadership, but rather at a rented shop within the building used by the suspect as a front for his criminal activities.
The police stated that detectives, armed with legal authority, conducted the operation, which was vital to safeguarding the nation.
The NLC had earlier raised an alarm that police officers and individuals in black T-shirts and plainclothes raided the Labour House, but the police emphasized that the operation had no connection with the NLC or its staff.
The police seek the cooperation and support of the NLC leadership as they continue the investigation, which is crucial for the safety of all involved.
