Police Arrest Suspected Cultist, Recover Firearms In Enugu, Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested a suspected member of Black Axe Confraternity, a cult group. The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed this on Sunday in Abakaliki.

“On Saturday, police operatives on patrol arrested a suspected member of the Black Axe Confraternity at Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi.

“Police recovered three locally-made pistols, six live cartridges, one live 7.62mm and three live 9mm ammunition from the suspect.

“The suspect confessed to being a member of the Black Axe Confraternity,” he added.

According to him, the suspected cultist is also a member of the proscribed Eastern Security Network, an affiliate of the equally-proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Ukandu said the supect will be arraigned upon the conclusion of the investigations.

Meanwhile, the Police in Enugu State arrested two armed robbery suspects in Enugu on Wednesday, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, stated in Enugu on 6 Sunday.

He stated that one locally-fabricated, cut-to-size gun loaded with a live cartridge, was recovered from the suspects aged 25 years and 27 years. “The suspects shall be arraigned upon the conclusion of investigations,’’ Ndukwe stated.
