Police Arrest 5 Over Armed Robbery, Vandalism at Popular Foreign Company in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against armed robbery and corporate vandalism, following the arrest of five male suspects linked to a recent attack on an international company in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area.

This development was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who also revealed the identities of the suspect.

According to the statement, the arrest was effected on the evening of 8th December 2025 through a coordinated offensive led by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, working in synergy with personnel of the Neni Divisional Headquarters. The teams, he said , were acting on a follow-up investigation into a reported case of conspiracy and armed robbery at the said industrial facility.

According to the PPRO, during the intelligence-driven operation, police operatives apprehended five suspects said to be directly involved in the vandalism and theft. The suspects, all male and between the ages of 18 and 23, were identified as: Okemili Chikwado (aged 20 years); Collins Nwakpa (aged 23 years); Chukwuemeka Igboke (aged 18 years); Nwali Chinedu (aged 18 years); and Ekene Nwakwo (aged 22 years).

The Police Spokesman noted that several exhibits linked to the crime were also recovered from the suspects, including one pump-action gun, ten live cartridges, and one black motorcycle, all believed to have facilitated their criminals’ operations during the attack on the company.

SP Ikenga further revealed that, upon arrest and interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the criminal act. He said the suspects also identified one Arinze as the primary receiver of the stolen items.

He further confirmed that investigation is ongoing, adding that efforts are currently underway to apprehend other fleeing suspects, as well as to recover all vandalized or stolen equipment.
