In a bid to address the prolonged crisis in Plateau State, a Fact-Finding Team led by Major General Augustine Agundu (Rtd) and formed by Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa (CDS), met with key stakeholders. The meeting aimed to gather insights and formulate effective strategies to bring an end to the long-standing conflicts.
The meeting, held at the 3 Division Auditorium Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, brought together representatives from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), local Fulani community, and other residents. Major General Agundu stressed the importance of unity, denouncing criminal activities, and the need for honesty to achieve lasting peace.
Stakeholders voiced their concerns about the increasing incidents of isolated killings and emphasized the urgent need to strengthen the judicial system.
They called for the establishment of a special court as a deterrent to potential criminals and urged the Plateau government to mediate between warring factions using a comprehensive approach that considers the perspectives of all involved parties.The stakeholders also condemned the influx of sophisticated weapons into the state and urged the government to take immediate action to prevent their entry through identified channels.
