Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State have been urged to focus on rebuilding, reuniting, and re-strategizing for a stronger political future.
This call was made during the APC Youth Summit held at Crest Hotel, Jos, bringing together party stakeholders, leaders, and vibrant youth from across the state.
Themed “The Role of Youth in Rebuilding, Reuniting, and Re-strategizing for a Stronger APC”, the summit aimed to foster unity and inclusion while re-assessing the party’s strategies.
Panel discussions and keynote addresses by distinguished leaders underscored the critical role of youth in driving the APC’s vision and future success.
Hon. Rufus Bature, APC State Chairman, emphasized the importance of electing leaders based on merit and integrity.
Addressing the gathering, he said, “Youths must hold leaders accountable and ensure that those elected are true servant leaders with proven records of performance. Electing leaders who do not merit positions undermines development.”
Hon. Bature also decried the divisive online bickering among party members and called for a united approach toward holding leaders accountable to their campaign promises.
Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, Chairman of the House Committee on Navy and representative of Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, commended the summit’s organizers for their initiative.
He reiterated that the APC remains the best platform to deliver progress and development in Plateau State and Nigeria. “The energy and vision of our youth are crucial in ensuring our party thrives and delivers on its promises,” he said.
George Lambert, Chairman of the APC Patriotic Youth Front, highlighted the summit’s goal of uniting the youth for the party’s progress.
“This is the first APC Youth Summit, and its purpose is clear: rebuilding, re-strategizing, and fostering unity. This initiative lays the foundation for future victories and stronger governance,” he said.
The panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Fabong Jimchang, explored strategies for addressing challenges faced by young politicians, including economic barriers and disunity. Dr. Jimchang emphasized the need for open-mindedness and respect among youths to build a formidable political front.
“We must prioritize unity, believe in the party’s ideology, and strategize effectively to drive meaningful progress,” he remarked.
Hon. Owen Karyit Dagogot, Member representing Qua’an Pan North Constituency, appealed for forgiveness and reconciliation among the youth.
“The future of our party and state lies in your hands. Let’s put aside past grievances and work together to build a prosperous future,” he urged.
Hon. Dagogot expressed optimism that the renewed sense of purpose displayed at the summit would contribute significantly to the APC’s growth.
He encouraged the youth to foster an environment of inclusion and respect to rebuild and strengthen the party.
The summit concluded with a commitment to make this engagement a continuous process. The APC Youth Summit is set to serve as a platform for fostering collaboration, unity, and the strategic development of the party, ensuring its relevance and success in future elections.
The gathering highlighted the power of youth in driving political transformation and underscored the APC’s commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders for a stronger Plateau State and Nigeria.
