Wasiu Alabi, known as Pasuma, a veteran yoruba fuji musician has revealed the reason he ventured into his music career, divulging how a setback in his football aspirations paved the way for his iconic journey in the music industry.
The artiste reminisced about his thwarted ambition to represent Nigeria in the FIFA U-16 World Championship held in China back in 1985.
Pasuma disclosed that his dreams of donning the Nigerian jersey were shattered when he failed to secure a spot in the national team, which ultimately led him to redirect his focus and passion towards music.
Reflecting on the disappointment of being omitted from the squad that clinched victory in the prestigious tournament, Pasuma acknowledged the initial pain but expressed gratitude for the turn of events that propelled him towards a successful music career.
Recalling the momentous juncture in his life, Pasuma recounted his determination to transform adversity into opportunity, deciding to harness his musical talents as a means of livelihood.
“I decided to channel my energy into music and make a living out of it. It was painful then, but I am grateful that I chose music over football eventually.”
