Governor Alex Otti has assured that the Amorji – Abaiyi – Isi-court Road, in Isialangwa North LGA, abandoned by the immediate past administration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State would be completed before the end of the year.
Governor Otti gave the assurance on Friday, January 31st, at Isi Ngwa Autonomous Community, Ancient Kingdom of Abayi & Amorji, Isialangwa North LGA, during the funeral service of the traditional ruler of Abayi Isingwa Autonomous Community, late His Royal Majesty, Eze. Dr. Ukaonu William Uche, who passed on at the age of 90 years.
The Governor said that he would have ordered immediate completion of the road but having run a check with the Commissioners of Work and Budget & Planning, they found out that the road was not captured in the 2025 budget of the State.
Governor Otti explained that although the road was not provided for in the 2025 budget, there was nothing to be worried about because it would be taken of through virement (amending the budget to accommodate the road).
The Governor revealed that even before the Lawmaker representing Isialangwa North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe mentioned and requested him to fix the road, the son of late Eze Ukaonu, Dr. Marizu Uche had mentioned the road to him. He assured that it would be done.
Talking about the late His Royal Majesty Eze Ukaonu William Uche, Ph.D, Governor Otti described him as a man of Integrity, defender of the defenceless and a firm believer in hard work. He said that he lived an illustrious life of service anchored on bettering the lives of his people and community, noting that People like him are rare to find this day. He encouraged the family to cry no more because he had completed his assignment on earth.
Earlier in his remarks at the burial, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, representing Isialangwa North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, mentioned and requested Governor Otti to complete the abandoned Road project, saying that it was one of the things the Late Eze Ukaonu had wished to happen while alive. He disclosed that the immediate past Government wanted to commission the uncompleted Road project, but when they protested, asking why they wanted to commission an uncompleted Road, they were told that they wanted to commission the first phase and come back for the second phase which they never did.
The burial service also attracted the presence of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Ph.D, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Kingsley Anosike, the Commissioner for Culture and Creative Economy, Dr. Matt Ekwuruibe, Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Evaluation, Mazi Ugochukwu Okoroafor, the Mayor of Isialangwa North, Hon.
