One Chance Robbery Syndicate Resurfaces In Imo

Just when the attention of Owerri residents has shifted from their heinous activities, the “One Chance” armed robbery syndicate has resurfaced in Imo.

Unsuspecting Imo people are, once again, being assailed by these men of the underworld who usually pose as bus drivers and passengers.

These hoodlums, who operate along Orji-Okigwe Wetheral Road, Amakohia-Akwakuma Road, Port-Harcourt Road and other axis, have remained a security threat as passengers of the buses end up being robbed of their mobile phones, handbags, money and other valuable items.

A businesswoman from Uratta, Owerri North Local Government Area, Mrs Chioma Uwaleke, narrated how she was robbed of her N20,000 by the syndicate, last week, in broad daylight.

“I boarded a bus going to Wetheral road, on getting to the Rapour Hotels junction, the driver diverted towards Onitsha road where they robbed me,” she said

On Sunday, another victim, Louisa Okerukwem, a 300-level student of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, narrated how she boarded a bus without knowing that the passengers were members of the one chance syndicate.

When contacted to react to whether the Police are aware of the resurgence, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, said the CP is leaving no stone unturned towards ensuring that they are arrested.
