The Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed Olayide Adelami as the Deputy Governor of the State.
The development came 24 hours after the governor; Lucky Aiyedatiwa picked Adelami as the deputy governor-nominee and sent his name to the Assembly for screening and approval.
The Assembly confirmed the nominee after the consideration of a report by the House selection committee presided over by the Speaker, Mr Olamide Oladij, during the plenary session of the Assembly.
The House had earlier conducted a screening exercise for the nominee at the Assembly complex before the plenary.
During the plenary, the Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin read the letter sent to the House by Governor Aiyedatiwa for the consideration of the nominees.
After the submission of the report, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Abayomi Akinruntan recommended the confirmation of the appointment of the nominee, affirming that Adelami had been properly screened.
The Majority Leader of the House, Mr Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi moved the motion for the report to be considered and the nominee to be confirmed and the motion was seconded by Felix Afe.
