A faction of Ohaneze Ndigbo, the Igbo socio-cultural organization has endorsed Senator David Umahi as the current leader, and rallying point in the South East geo-political zone of Nigeria. They explained that after an extensive search for a leader who can guide the Southeast East towards better political representation and a unifying rallying point, Ohanaeze Ndigbo described Umahi, the Minister of Works as the worthy successor of esteemed leaders like Dim Odumegwu Emeka Ojukwu, Dr. Alex Ekweme.
The group in a press statement issued by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro Secretary General Ohaneze Ndigbo explained that the absence of influential figures such as Ojukwu, Dr. Michael Okpara, Dr. Sam Mbakwe, Dr. Alex Ekweme, Pa Mbazulike Amaechi, and Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife had left a void in the Southeast, creating a need for a strong leader who possesses a deep understanding of Igbo interests and values.
