Following reports of the introduction of a naval base in Ogun state, Ogun state government has fully embraced the development.
The Governor noted that he understands the importance of having a strong naval presence to ensure the security of the upcoming seaport and to effectively manage maritime activities in his state.
He said, “With the establishment of the Naval Base, we will be able to address any potential security concerns and safeguard our seaport operations.
Furthermore, we believe that the presence of the Nigerian Navy will not only enhance security but also attract more businesses and investments to our state. The establishment of the biggest seaport in Nigeria will create numerous job opportunities and boost economic growth in Ogun State.
We are committed to working closely with the Nigerian Navy to ensure the success of this project. Our Evaluation Committee, comprised of competent individuals, will carefully assess the requirements and feasibility of the Naval Base establishment. We will provide all necessary support and resources to ensure a smooth implementation process.As we have done with our airport project, we will strive to adhere to international standards and practices in the development of our seaport. We are confident that the combination of a state-of-the-art seaport and a strong naval presence will position Ogun State as a key player in maritime transportation and trade within the country.
Together with the Nigerian Navy, we will ensure the proper management and security of our seaport, maximizing its potential for economic growth and development. We look forward to a fruitful partnership that will benefit not only our state but the entire nation”, he concluded.
