Off Cycle Election: No Plans To Book All Hotel rooms In Imo State

Sharing is caring
Imo State Government has vehemently denied any knowledge of plans to book all hotel rooms in the state for the forthcoming governorship election.

Recall a trending video which showed stranded and angry old students of Federal Government Girls College Owerri at a hotel supposedly booked months before their re-union party.

Upon arrival at the hotel, they were told all the rooms have been given to politicians as directed by the state government.

Speaking to Ekwe Anaedo News an aide to governor Hope Uzodinma Collins Ughalla, describe the story as false

Ughalla said ‘’ our governor does not need to book all the hotels in the state to win this month’s election; his victory is assured I can guarantee you that. However I need to make it clear that at no time did he make such move. I challenge you to enter into any hotel and find out’’

Also speaking Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba described as outright falsehood, the allegation by the opposition that the government was planning to spend N5billion to book and block all hotels in the state in order to checkmate the influx of thugs into the state.

Emelumba told newsmen in Owerri that the government is not aware of any such arrangement. But he acknowledged that the government is aware of plans by the opposition to flood the state with thugs ahead of the elections, adding that the matter was being addressed with relevant security agencies for necessary action.

He described as idiotic the allegation that the government was importing thugs from neighbouring states to rig the election. Emelumba said that contrary to such insinuations, Gov Hope Uzodimma and the APC will win the election in a free and fair contest.

He therefore called on Imo electorate to ignore all the antics of the opposition and focus on returning the governor for a well-deserved second term to continue his good works.
