Obiangwu Community Presents Developmental Needs To SEDC, Celebrates Executive Director Ogbede

Sharing is caring

The people of Obiangwu in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, Imo State, have formally appealed to the South East Development Commission (SEDC) to prioritize the community in its developmental agenda. The appeal was made during a civic reception in honour of Dr. Cliff Ogbede, who was recently appointed Executive Director for Natural and Agricultural Resources and Rural Development at the Commission.

In a speech delivered by the community chairman, Mr. Johnny K.C. Nosike, Obiangwu outlined its pressing developmental needs, which include the construction of accessible and durable roads, full rehabilitation and equipping of public schools, and the transformation of the area into a hub for industrialization and agribusiness. Nosike decried the state of public education in the area, lamenting the absence of Mathematics and Science teachers in Obiangwu Secondary Commercial School for many years, a situation he described as detrimental to the future of underprivileged students.

He also called on the SEDC to support local farmers by introducing modern agricultural practices to replace outdated methods currently in use, noting that Obiangwu possesses vast fertile lands ripe for productive cultivation. Additionally, Nosike emphasized the community’s proximity to the Imo Airport and advocated for improved electricity supply as a means to attract and sustain private sector investment in the area.
