The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has appealed to Nigerians to postpone the planned August 1st nationwide protest and give the Federal Government more time to implement its economic policies.
The monarch made this call in a statement on Wednesday, asking the government to speed up efforts to ease the current hardship faced by Nigerians.
The monarch also urged those planning the August 1st nationwide protest to shelve their plans.
The protest, which is gaining traction on social media, has been scheduled to be held across all states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in August.
The organisers of the protest have been faceless.
The Federal Government has warned against the planned demonstration, with presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga warning that it could degenerate into destruction of assets.
