The umbrella body of all Arochukwu people across the globe, Nzuko Arochukwu Worldwide, has suspended with immediate effect every activity planned or ongoing, regarding the emergence of an Eze Aro.
In a Public Announcement signed by its President General, Sir Nnadozie Udensi(Ugwu Aro) and Mazi Zulu Ofoelue, Acting Secretary General, the organisation said it is taking the same steps of the State Government by asking all parties involved to stand down, pending investigations by the Government over the emergence process.
The Announcement also asked those involved to obey both the government directive and that which it has made, warning that anyone that goes ahead with any activities henceforth regarding Eze Aro will be acting on his or her own risk.
The letter reads as follows:
IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE
Following discordant statements emanating from interested persons in the Eze Aro matter and in order to forestall any breach of public peace in Arochukwu this festive period, Nzuko Arochukwu, after due consultation with the Abia State Government wish to make the following public announcements which also represents the position of Abia State Government on the aforementioned:
1. For the avoidance of doubt, any purported Eze Aro Coronation ceremony or reception/celebration of Eze Aro by any group is hereby suspended until the investigative panel set up by the Abia State Govemment concludes its assignment and submits its Recommendations to the government for implementation.
2. The foregoing is in consonance with Edict No.8 of December 1991 that empowers Govemment with the authority to deal with Chieftaincy and Town Union matters in the State.
3. All those parading themselves as Eze Aro, and person/s officially suspended by government in respect to the current Eze Aro matter, are advised to stop such claims henceforth until government conclude its investigation and make pronouncement on the matter.
4. The Aro Day Celebrations scheduled for December 26, 2023 at the Arochukwu Civic Centre will continue as planned and the public is hereby notified that His Excellency,Dr.Alex Otti,the Executive Governor of Abia State has been duly invited and is expected to grace the occasion
5. Nzuko Aro Worldwide urges Umu Aro to be law abiding and await Govemment’s position on the matter while wishing them Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year.
