Nnewi Internal Crisis Resolved As The Four Quarters Agreed To Work Together

Chief Dr. Maduka Atuenyi, the President-General of Nnewi Town Union body, Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, has announced that the internal crisis rocking the town has been fully resolved.

The President General Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Dr Atuenyi, made the call publicly during the monthly general meeting of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi.

It will be recalled that earlier last month, a report about the decision of Uruagu, Umudim, and Nnewichi to pull out of the town union body of Nnewi Community, Nzuko-Ora Nnewi.

Declaring that the lingering crisis which threatened the unity of the four communities in Nnewi has been resolved, Chief Maduka Atuenyi revealed that the ceasefire was achieved following the frantic efforts made by different stakeholders, which the leadership of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, played a key role to resolve.

According to him, peace came to Nnewi following the series of high-powered meetings held at the palace of His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Kenneth Orizu (III), which involved Obi Uruagu, Obi Afamefuna Charles Obi (Ogidi IV), Obi Umudim, Obi Benneth Okafor (Amakwu), and Obi Nnewichi, Obi George Onyekaba (Obidiugwu).

He revealed that both the Nnewi traditional institution and Nzuko-Ora Nnewi have agreed to work together for the peace and progress of Nnewi. The President-General warned those who are still calling for autonomy of any of the communities to desist from it and align with the steps taken by the Igwe and the Obis to ensure peace in Nnewi.

Speaking further, he commended the President-General of the four communities in Nnewi, Chief Amobi Adukwulu (Otolo), Chief Innocent Okoli (Uruagu), Chief Uzochukwu Anyadiegwu (Umudim), and Elder Sorge Egbuna (Nnewichi) for their presence in today’s meeting and their commitment towards the unity of Nnewi.

Dr. Maduka Atuenyi, who is also a United State of America trained security expert, urged Nnewi indigenes both home and abroad to unite and shun every divisive action that will be inimical to the tranquillity and harmony in Nnewi.

He also announced that 2024 Afiaolu Nnewi festival is centrally organized by Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, and all the communities have dissolved their separate committees, in other to align with the central committee constituted by Nzuko-Ora Nnewi to progress.
