Amb. Clem’s Aguiyi, The Transition Committee Chairman (TCC), Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA), has urged the state government to see to the full implementation of the Child’s Rights Act (CRA) and the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act (VAPP) to curb any form of violence, especially gender-based violence, in our society.
Amb. Aguiyi who spoke on the need to eliminate violence in private and public life, prohibit all forms of violence against children, and provide maximum protection and effective remedies for victims as well as punishment of offenders.
He made the plea during the inauguration of stakeholders at the local government on April 16.
Speaking at the program, the Co-Chair of Anambra State Child Right Implementation Committee (ASCRIC), Mrs. Loveth Uju Onyendilefu, called on stakeholders and town leaders to see to the full implementation of the law, to punish offenders, and to reduce any form of abuse to the barest minimum.
She said that children, irrespective of their gender, must be protected from any form of abuse and should be encouraged to report those who take undue advantage of them to concerned authorities for necessary actions.
The stakeholders at the event were selected from different Sectors to ensure that the menace of child rights violations in Njikoka is put to an end.
