Nigeria Is Still A Floundering Giant At 64 Says NULGE

Sharing is caring

The President, Anambra state chapter of Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, (NULGE),Comrade Nicholas Aromeh, has tasked Nigerian government at all levels on formulating favorable economic policies that could reverse the endemic poverty, hunger and economic hardship in the country.

Commenting on the 64th Independence anniversary of Nigeria yesterday in Awka, Comrade Aromeh, , regretted that greater percentage of Nigerians are today wallowing in penury due to the unfriendly policies of the present government at the center.

“Most of the policies of the federal government in the country today are inimical to the well beings of greater percentage of Nigerians”,Comrade Aromeh lamented.

He wondered how a country blessed with abundant men and minerals resources should be yearning for food in the comity of nations, stressing the need for the country to look inwards and go back to agriculture, which according to him was the main source of the nation’s economy before the oil boom in the early seventies.

He added that the reduction of the alarming fuel pump and food prices as well as electricity tariff among others would add fresh blood in the lives of the suffering Nigerians who were struggling to eke out their daily bread amidst the current prevailling economic hardship.

The NULGE boss, who maintained that Nigerian civil servants are not finding things easy as a result of the unabated high cost of living, pleaded with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and state Governors to borrow a leaf from the Anambra state Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, whom he,said had made education free in all public schools in the state with a view to reducing the burden on parents .

While describing Nigeria as a floundering giant of Africa, Comrade Aromeh, regretted that no system is working in present day Nigeria at sixty-four years due to increasing rate of crimes and corruption, especially among the Leaders.

“Nigerian leaders are after enriching themselves with the common wealth of the nation to the detriment of Nigerian masses”,he added.
