In a momentous occasion on the 8th of February, the convener of Peace In SouthEast-Project (PISE-P), Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, warmly welcomed a delegation from the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT), led by Managing Director Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen. This gathering marked the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NIGCOMSAT and PISE-P, alongside the unveiling of the Community Enterprise Digital Hub (CEDIH), a groundbreaking initiative poised to narrow the digital divide in remote areas across the southeast states.

CEDIH, heralded as a pioneering endeavor, harnesses the advanced satellite technology of NIGCOMSAT to furnish reliable and affordable internet connectivity to underserved communities. Beyond mere connectivity, this visionary project seeks to facilitate access to essential services such as telemedicine, education, and finance. By bridging the digital gap, CEDIH aims to foster inclusivity and streamline access to e-government services, online digital training, and sustainable green power initiatives.

Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu expressed heartfelt appreciation for NIGCOMSAT’s steadfast commitment to this partnership, underscoring the transformative impact it promises for the region. He further extended an invitation to other organizations and agencies to join hands in supporting this noble endeavor, envisioning a future where the untapped potential of the southeast is unlocked, stability is restored, and inclusive development paves the path to collective prosperity.

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, collaborations like the one between NIGCOMSAT and PISE-P stand as testament to the power of innovation and collective action in driving positive change. With CEDIH leading the charge, communities across the southeast can look forward to a brighter, more connected future, where opportunities abound and barriers to progress are dismantled.
