New Commissioner of Police Posted to Edo State Command

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the posting of a new Commissioner of Police, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, to the Edo State Police Command.

Edwin-Iwo, who resumed duty on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, takes over from CP Funsho Adegboye as the 47th commissioner of the command.

Edwin-Iwo hails from Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State and holds a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Port-Harcourt and a Master’s in Industrial Relations from the University of Ibadan.

He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has risen through the ranks, serving in various capacities.

Prior to his new posting, Edwin-Iwo was the Commissioner of Police in charge of intelligence at the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja. He has also served as Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, and Commissioner of Police, Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Additionally, he has held positions as Police PRO in Lagos and Oyo states and as a Divisional Police Officer in Bayelsa State.

Edwin-Iwo is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and has attended several tactical and leadership courses within and outside Nigeria, demonstrating his commitment to professional development and excellence in policing.

As the new Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Edwin-Iwo is expected to bring his wealth of experience and expertise to bear in maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and addressing security challenges in the state.
