In line with the Federal government’s resolve to make an appreciable percentage of the nation’s populace economically self-reliant, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has kicked off a nationwide 92,806 jobs creation initiative across different states of the federation including Imo State.
According to Mrs Theresa Nwachukwu, the director of NDE, Imo state, the scheme has commenced in earnest in Imo state with registration and documentation of unemployed persons interested in acquiring skills for self-sustenance.
A press statement issued by the NDE in Owerri indicates that available skills as packaged by the directorate include Vocational Skills, Agricultural Skills, Entrepreneurship, Special Public Works Programme and Women Empowerment.
The press statement issued by the Imo state chapter of NDE requested unemployed persons interested in the federal government-sponsored skills acquisition to promptly visit the NDE office at the Federal Secretariat Complex, along Port Harcourt Road, Owerri for registration and documentation while the exercise lasted.
Explaining further, the Imo director of NDE, Mrs Nwachukwu described the ongoing nationwide 92,806 jobs creation initiative as a worthwhile venture that would liberate many Nigerians from the problem of unemployment.
Mrs Theresa Nwachukwu charged unemployed persons in the state to take advantage of the initiative to acquire useful skills.
