The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), is set to roll out the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises (LIFE-ND) project in Akwa Ibom, Imo, and Rivers States. This initiative, which will span six years, aims to enhance the economic conditions of communities in these Niger Delta states.

The LIFE-ND project, spearheaded by the Nigerian government, is designed to uplift the living standards of approximately 38,250 rural women and youths across the nine states that comprise the Niger Delta region.

For the past five years, the LIFE-ND project has been actively implemented in six other IFAD-supported states: Abia, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Ondo. To honor its financial commitment of $30 million, the NDDC has recently made a partial payment, allowing the inclusion of the three NDDC-backed states in the program.

The official launch of the LIFE-ND project marks the beginning of this collaborative effort, which targets the creation of at least 12,750 agri-entrepreneurs in 300 communities within Akwa Ibom, Imo, and Rivers.
