The prolonged scarcity of petrol has worsened across various states in Nigeria, with widespread queues at filling stations and prices reaching up to N1,000/litre.
The situation has led to increased transport fares and long wait times for passengers.
Marketers blame the scarcity on the limited supply by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), which allegedly rations petrol to one truck per state.
NNPC has remained silent on the issue, despite claims of rationing and scarcity.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) have confirmed the shortage, stating that they can only distribute what NNPC makes available.
Nigerians are calling for NNPC to explain the reason for the persistent scarcity, which has shown no significant improvement since July 27, 2024.
