The remains of Nigeria’s music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, have been buried in a private ceremony in Ikoyi, Lagos, following a funeral service at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju.
The service, which drew a large crowd of mourners, was a celebration of Onwenu’s life and legacy, which spanned music, broadcasting, acting, and activism.
Onwenu, who passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 72, was honored by a touching service attended by notable figures, including former presidential candidate Peter Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
The service was a testament to Onwenu’s enduring impact on the Nigerian entertainment industry and beyond.
Following the service, a private burial took place at a vault in Ikoyi, where family and close friends gathered to pay their final respects to the legendary musician.
