Mrs Nonye Soludo Sets Up Pad Bank, Healthy Living Club In School Of Health Technology, Obosi.

The Anambra Governor’s Wife and Founder of the Non-Governmental Crusade, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has set up a Healthy Living Pad Bank and inaugurated a Healthy Living Club in Anambra State College of Health Technology, ASCoHT, Obosi.

The initiation of both programmes into the school was the highpoint of yesterday’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day, which the governor’s wife observed with students of the college.

The school becomes the first tertiary institution in the state where both the school club programme and pad bank initiative would be set up, having already been successfully set up in over 300 secondary schools in Anambra State.

Addressing the students, the governor’s wife, Mrs Soludo, commended the school for already putting into action the cardinal modules of healthy living, most especially as it relates to personal and environmental hygiene.

She said that the pad bank, which will be refilled at the beginning of every academic semester, will help female students take care of  menstrual emergencies and eliminate stigma and pressure that often arise from such issue when it is unattended to.

Mrs Soludo also explained that the presence of a healthy living club in the college will also help the students to understand the basics of right health and inspire them to use the experience to help their families and communities.

The governor’s wife further promised to keep coming by to check on the activities of the newly set up club and applauded the school’s head for pledging to lead the programme.

On his part, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, said that the institution is important in moving the healthy living initiative because of the primary experience of the students in health and the enthusiasm that they have shown to getting involved in the whole process.

He highlighted the interventions of the state government in the infrastructural growth of the institution, including the newly-built muliti-purpose block, and explained that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration is passionate about sustaining the legacy of the institution as one of the best in the country.

Earlier, the Provost of the institution, Mr. Daniel Ezeobi disclosed that Mrs Soludo was the first Anambra governor’s wife to visit the institution since its creation, and commended her for choosing the college as the first tertiary institution to set up the pad bank initiative and healthy living club programme.

He pledged to personally lead the programme and noted that every student of the college will be involved in giving the programme the right energy to be successful.

Highlights of the event were drama and performances that portrayed the essence of hygiene and healthy living.

Mrs Soludo, also donated packs of pads to start off the pad bank project and also made cash donations to help the institution procure sports equipment for the healthy living club programme.

Nigeria’s Pillar Of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike Bags Rotary Club’s Award Of Excellence.



The Nigeria’s Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike JP has bagged an award of excellence in Fostering Ethnic Coexistence, in Nigeria through Sports.

The award was given on Sunday, by the Ilorin Rotary club Golden, at the Crystal House along Zulu Gambari road, GRA Ilorin the Kwara State capital, in recognition of the Nnewi-born Sports philanthropist’s contributions to fostering peaceful co-existence among the various ethno-religious groups in Nigeria. Parts of Ejidike’s noble endeavours also include the emancipation of youths in Nigeria through Sports, across ethno-religious divides in the country.

Ejidike was accompanied to the award ceremony by some members of the Office of the Nigeria Pillar of Sports (ONPS), led by its Chairman, Prince Ajide Olayioye, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, and Adebayo Abubakar.

In his reaction to the award, the Anambra-born business mogul who doubles as the patron of the Nigerian Football Supporters Club appreciates the Rotary Club of Ilorin Golden, for recognising what he calls his modest contributions to Sports development in the country. He also applauded the Club for its noble endeavours, and humanitarian services to the society.

The Former President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) promises to foster a robust relationship between the Office of the Nigeria’s Pillar of Sports, and the Rotary Club of Ilorin Golden. He said “the relationship just started, and that it’s destined to grow from today.” He therefore declares his intention to become a Rotarian in the coming days.,

Mrs Soludo Wife Says Husband Not Resting On Current Milestones.



Anambra First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has reassured Ndi Anambra that her husband, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, is working round the clock to take the state to a level of global reference.

Mrs Soludo, who stated this while addressing members of Soludo Women’s Movement, Awka North Chapter at Mgbakwu, explained that Governor Soludo came prepared and had his blueprint clearly drawn before coming to Anambra politics.

She noted that despite the current milestones of the present administration in the state, her husband is not resting on his oars but is working every minute to give Ndi Anambra nothing short of excellence.

While commending members of the association for keeping trust, solidarity, and faith in the present administration, the governor’s wife reminded them that women are an important part of the government’s development vision.

Mrs Soludo also used the opportunity to talk about the roles of mothers to a better society and asked the mothers to be deliberate in child raising and to always inspire their children with positive words and challenges.

In his speech, the National Coordinator of All Soludo Support Group, Sir Chinedu Nwoye, referred to Governor Soludo’s pre-election pledge to ensure that his administration will have maximum impact on Awka North being an area after his heart.

He explained that the current administration is solely focused on giving the best, with a large emphasis on human capital development and infrastructure.

Earlier in her remarks, the National Coordinator of Soludo Women’s Movement, Lady Ify Ataogu, said that the group is made up of independent thinkers who are not driven by external influences, but are committed to supporting good governance.

She said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration has had a massive impact on lives and has shown people that good governance is real and can be delivered, adding that the women will continue to support the administration.

The Member Representing Awka North in Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable JohnMark Ikwunne, said that Mrs Soludo has shown true reflection of motherhood and humanity, with her energy solidly behind her husband’s success as a leader.

He said that since the creation of Anambra State, Governor Soludo remains the first governor to give attention to Awka North, with the local government being one of the biggest beneficiaries of the current administration’s development master plan.

Highlight of the event was bestowing of “Nne di Ogo” Title on Mrs Soludo in recognition of her humility, kindness, and motherly dispositions.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, the Anambra State Woman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mrs Esther Onyekesi, the National Coordinator of Women in Governance for Greater Anambra (WIGA), Mrs Amaka Obi as well as the wife of the National Chairman of APGA, Mrs Amara Ezeokenwa, were at the event.
