Medical Association Suspends Strike, Gives Ogun State Government Four-Week Ultimatum

Sharing is caring

The Ogun State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has suspended its ongoing strike for four weeks.

The decision was made during an emergency general meeting held on August 27 and 29, 2024.

According to the chairman, Dr. OgunJimi Luqman, the strike was initiated due to the state government’s failure to implement the reviewed CONMESS wage scale, adopted by federal counterparts in June 2023.

The association urges the state government to meet their demands within the four-week suspension period to prevent further industrial disputes.

If their demands remain unmet, the association plans to reconvene on September 30, 2024, to assess the situation, with no guarantee of continued industrial harmony.
