What was meant to be a moment of celebration and joyful preparations for a wedding ceremony has turned into a period of deep mourning and preparations for burial ceremony in Ekwulumili, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, following the sudden de@th of a 24-year-old lady, Miss Kosisochukwu Emmanuella Onyemobi.
Miss Onyemobi, whose wedding was reportedly scheduled to hold on Saturday, January 31 (with her wedding invitation card already trending on social media) sh0ckingly passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2026 (just 10 days to the event) after a brief illness, throwing her family, friends and the entire community into grief (with her burial poster now trending social media.)
The deceased, described by family members and close associates as vibrant, respectful and full of life, was said to have been actively involved in preparations for her marriage before her untimely demise cut short her dreams and aspirations.
In a burial notice issued by the Onyemobi family of Isigwu Ekwulumili and made available to journalists, the family expressed deep sorr0w over the painful l0ss, describing the late Kosisochukwu as a beloved daughter, sister and cousin whose de@th has left an irreplaceable vacuum.
According to the burial arrangements released by the family, a wake keep and candlelight procession would be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at her father’s compound in Isigwu Ekwulumili, Nnewi South Local Government Area.
The final burial rites are scheduled for the same day that would have been for her marriage (Saturday, January 31, 2026) with the body departing the m0rtuary by 9:00am for her father’s compound, followed immediately by a burial mass at 10:00am.
The family further disclosed that condolence visits by relatives, friends and well-wishers will take place after the burial mass.
The death has continued to generate an outpouring of grief across Ekwulumili and beyond, as residents and netizens struggle to come to terms with the painful irony of a young woman who was preparing for marriage only days ago now being prepared for her final journey.
In their separate reactions, some netizens who claim to know the Kosisochukwu, described the incident as heartbreaking while also extending their words of consolations to the family.
The Onyemobi family, while thanking sympathisers for their support and prayers, also prayed for the repose of the gentle soul of their departed daughter.
