Manchester United have agreed to sign Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich in a double deal worth a combined £60 million.

De Ligt, a 24-year-old center-back, will join United for an initial €45 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

He previously played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, where they won the Eredivisie in 2019.

Mazraoui, a 25-year-old right-back, will sign for £17.2 million, replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is undergoing a medical at West Ham. United will receive a £15 million fee for Wan-Bissaka.

De Ligt’s signing is a significant boost for United’s defense, which was plagued by injuries last season.

He will be the club’s second center-back signing of the summer, following the arrival of Leny Yoro.

The deals are subject to medicals, which are scheduled for today.

De Ligt needs to be registered by midday Thursday to be eligible for United’s opening Premier League match against Fulham on Friday.

United’s defense has been a major concern for Ten Hag, and the signings of De Ligt and Mazraoui are seen as a significant step towards addressing those issues.
