Man Charged For Stealing N9.9m Iron Rods In Ebonyi

A 32-year-old man has appeared before an Abakaliki Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly stealing property worth N9.9m from a storehouse in April 2023 in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital. Itumo Sunday is facing three counts of conspiracy, breaking in and stealing pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecutor noted that the offence is punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 33, Vol. 1 Laws of Ebonyi State 2009.

 
The defence counsel, Ebere Orie-Adagba, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail. The magistrate, Ojemba Isu-Oko, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum. Isu-Oko ordered that the surety must be a resident within the court’s jurisdiction. He subsequently adjourned the case until April 17.
