Luka Modric has been named in Croatia’s 24-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign, putting to rest speculation about his future with the national team.
Following Croatia’s exit from Euro 2024 and the retirements of teammates Domagoj Vida and Marcelo Brozovic, there was uncertainty over whether Modric would continue to play for the national side.
However, head coach Zlatko Dalic expressed his delight that the Real Madrid captain has chosen to remain with the team, stating, “He is our great strength, both on and off the field.”
Modric, who turns 39 in September, has made 178 appearances for Croatia since his debut in 2006. He will lead the team in their League A matches against Portugal on September 5 and Poland on September 8.
