The Julius Abure group that was on Friday sacked by the Supreme Court, has threatened to sanction Peter Obi and Abia State governor Dr. Alex Otti.
The group in a resolution after a meeting on Monday, accused Otti of calling for unauthorised stakeholders meeting and usurping the powers of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.
The resolution jointly signed by Abure and Farouk Ibrahim who was National Secretary of the sacked National Working Committee (NWC), alleged that Otti conducted local government election in Abia State using another political party.
“The governor has also intensified his effort to factionalise the party leadership by calling an illegal NEC schedule to hold on Wednesday.
“The leadership of the Labour Party is also aware of (the) governor’s plot to cripple our party before moving to another political party where he hope to contest the 2027 governorship election,” the group noted.
It added that the governor’s anti-party activities were “unbecoming of highly respected personality and can no longer be acceptable.
“NEC stated that it will not hesitate to discipline him in line with Article 19 of the Party’s Constitution.”
The Abure group also advised Obi not to attend the Wednesday’s NEC meeting, and threatened that it will not hesitate to issue stiffer penalty on him if found culpable.
The group said it has removed Hon. Victor Adam Ogene as Labour Party caucus leader of the House of Representatives and replaced with Hon. Ben Etanabene.
It told him “to hand over all the party’s properties in his possession, particularly all the financial contributions made so far by other Labour Party lawmakers which are in his possession to the party, and render proper account to the party with immediate effect.”
