…Effects 100% Payment Of CONHESS To Health Workers
The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to enhancing the State’s energy sector for better productivity, while also encouraging renewable energy to increase security of life and property.
The State Commissioner for Energy, Engr. AbdulAzeez Kola AbdulGaniy, who stated this on Monday during the fourth-quarter Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing held at the conference room of Ministry of Finance, Ilorin, noted that these efforts are aimed at improving the living standards of the people of the State and boosting economic development across the State.
Engr. AbdulGaniy said: “More communities now have access to improved power supply facilities, including the provision and installation of transformers and other electrical materials in several communities. These communities include: Tepatan Oke, Gata Community and Magaji Fate Community. This development has helped several businesses and industries thrive.
“Others include: procurement and installation of transformers to Lola Surulere, Akerebiata and Alafia Tayo community behind Olam Farm, Ogbondoroko, among others.”
The Commissioner disclosed that solar panels, inverters, and batteries were installed at Ilu Ofiada community, Asa Local Government Area, 2 units of grid hybrid solar inverter were also installed for two Federal High Court Judges’ Quarters in Ilorin.
“Others include: procurement and installation of 1No 400/5amps prepaid meter for Kwara State Council for Arts and Culture, Ilorin, relocation of overhead line in front of Government House and installation of already allocated 500KVA transformer at Reke Community”, Engr. AbdulGaniy said.
While commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his laudable efforts in the energy sector, the Commissioner stressed that the “Governor’s sole aim is to create meaningful livelihood and sustainable environment for residents in Kwara State”.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Government has effected 100 percent payment of Consolidated Health Workers Salaries Structure (CONHESS) across the 16 local government areas of the State, adding that salaries of health workers in the State are now at par with that of their counterparts at the Federal level.
“This development, according to the government had reduced attrition from the State health sector to the Federal Government, adding that this has reduced the menace of Japa syndrome in the state health sector.
The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Hospital Management Board, Dr Abdulraheem Malik, disclosed this in Ilorin on Monday at an inter-ministerial press briefing, adding that the board had recruited more doctors and health workers to bridge the gap of Japa syndrome and brain-brain drain the state.
“Hitherto, Kwara did not have blood bank depot. This informed the state Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq to approve the procurement and supply of blood banks for a number of hospitals among the 46 hospitals under the board.
“So far, the management board has trained 1,056 health workers on patients care and customer service,” he said.
Also, the Managing Director of the State Garment Factory, Bukola Adedeji, hinted that the factory had the capability of employing no fewer than 4,000 workers, saying that the factory is capable of producing 6,000 apparels daily.
Mrs Adedeji added that the factory had been positioned to make Kwara a leader in garment production.
“The factory is committed to delivering world class products of diverse range with emphasis on durability.
“Prospects of the factory include direct and indirect job creation; increased internally generated revenue by driving local production and reduction on imported apparels,’ she said, adding that
the factory would expand into African market, through its targeted marketing strategies.
