Kogi State Government Debunks Report of Governor’s Defection to PDP

Sharing is caring

The Kogi State Government has dismissed reports suggesting that Governor Usman Ododo has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A viral picture of the governor with PDP governors had sparked speculation about his political allegiance.

However, the state Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, has issued a statement reaffirming Governor Ododo’s commitment to the APC. Fanwo described the report as “reckless and unprofessional” and assured the public that the governor remains a solid member of the APC.

“The attention of the Kogi State Government has been drawn to a reckless and unprofessional media report that the Governor of the State was considering dumping the All Progressives Congress. We would have ignored the blatant falsehood but we owe the public the duty of correct and adequate information.

“The promoters of the falsehood are people who are still rueing their woeful failure at the law courts and probably trying to find a back door into the All Progressives Congress, hence their resort to the only tools at their disposal which are falsehood, propaganda, misinformation and disinformation,” he added.

“We urge the people to be rest assured that Kogi remains APC and will continue to support the laudable policies and progress being recorded by the President of our dear nation, the state Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, said.

The commissioner explained that the picture in question was taken at a wedding ceremony in Taraba State, attended by dignitaries across party lines. Governor Ododo was present to honor his colleague, the Taraba State Governor, and not to indicate any political switch.

The Kogi State Government has urged the public to disregard the false report and trust the APC-led administration to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies and progress.

This clarification comes on the heels of the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Governor Ododo’s election victory, solidifying his position as the validly elected governor of Kogi State.
