Killing Of Umuoji PG Calls For Vigilance In Anambra Ekwunife

Senator Uche Ekwunife, The Director General of South-East Governors Forum, has condemned the murder of the President General of Umuoji in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Expressing her deepest condolences and unequivocal condemnation of the dastardly act in a statement signed by her Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communication, Tony Ezike,
Ekwunife described the slain President General as a pillar of strength and beacon of hope.

She also said,” The cowardly act perpetrated by Gunmen assailants has left Umuoji community and Anambra State shaken, and stands condemned.

“Mr Silas Onyima,zwas not just a leader; he was a pillar of strength and a beacon of hope for the people of Umuoji. His unwavering dedication to the betterment of the community and his selfless service will forever be remembered.

“His untimely demise is not only a loss to his family and Umuoji community but to the entire state of Anambra. It is not the culture of Igbos to kill their kinsmen.”

In the face of this appalling tragedy, Senator Uche Ekwunife urged all citizens to remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring the safety and security of the neighborhoods.

Sen Uche said,”We must stand united against the forces of darkness that seek to disrupt our peace and harmony. It is incumbent upon each and every one of us to mind the company we keep, businesses we transact and report any suspicious activities or movements to the relevant authorities promptly.

Continuing, the Senator formerly representing Anambra Central Senatorial District added,” Security is everybody’s business. The government cannot do it alone. It is difficult for government to provide security for all citizens without sharing of relevant information.

“The security and well-being of every citizen is paramount, and we must work together with the law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

“Justice must prevail for Silas Onyima and his grieving family, and those responsible must be brought to account for their actions.

“As we mourn the loss of Silas Onyima, let us honour his memory by reaffirming our commitment to peace, unity, and progress in Anambra State. Together, we will overcome this challenging time, and together, we will build a safer and more prosperous future for all.

“Senator Uche Ekwunife therefore extends her heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Silas Onyima, Umuoji community and the good people of Anambra State. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
