Kalvin Phillips Set to Join Ipswich Town on Loan*

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is expected to join newly promoted Ipswich Town on loan for the season.

The 28-year-old has struggled to break into the City starting side since his £45m move from Leeds two years ago.

Phillips had a loan spell at West Ham last season, but a combination of poor form and injury ruined his chances of making England’s Euro 2024 squad.

Despite City manager Pep Guardiola’s praise for Phillips during the club’s pre-season tour, he was left on the bench for Saturday’s Community Shield win over Manchester United.

Ipswich have won the race to sign Phillips on loan, beating off interest from other clubs like Fulham.

The deal is expected to be completed by Friday morning and does not include a sale option.
