Kaduna State Government Receives UNICEF Delegates

Kaduna state government has received in audience a high powered delegation from the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), Nigeria led by the Deputy Country Representative, Dr. Rownak Khan.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the partnership between Kaduna State Government and UNICEF in the areas of maternal and child mortality, out-of-school children, poverty alleviation, amongst others.

The Deputy Representative extended the condolences of the UNICEF to the Government and people of Kaduna State over the unfortunate military drone attack in Tudun Biri. She commended the State Government for its commitment in the development of the state’s health sector and expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, while identifying areas of improvement. Responding, the state governor gave an overview of the state’s efforts in the health sector which includes equipping over 255 primary healthcare centers with state-of-the-art equipment and training of midwives.

He also stated that for Kaduna state to address the issue of out-of-school children, they must decisively address the problem of poverty. He thanked the UNICEF for their support and assured them of the State Government’s commitment to strengthening the collaboration to address issues and challenges in the areas of maternal and child mortality, malnutrition, education, as well as poverty alleviation through financial inclusion.
